August II the Strong, Thaler 1723 IGS, Dresden – rare
Obverse:
A bust in right-facing profile, clad in armor and draped with a cloak.
On the rim, an inscription divided at the top by the royal apple: D G FRID AUGUST REX POL DUX SAX I C M A & W
Reverse:
A crown. Below the crown, between palm branches, two shields bearing the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, and Saxony. Below, the date 1723, the initials I G S (Johann Georg Schomburg—master of the Dresden mint), and the mint mark (a hook).
Around the rim, an inscription divided at the top by a crown: SAC ROM IMP ARCHIM ET ELECTOR

Minor localised under-strikes, but beautifully preserved. Beautiful detail. Luster and mirror finish. Rare year of issue. In this condition, the coin is rare and difficult to find on the collector’s market.
