Biography
Painter, woodcut artist, and renowned illustrator. He studied at the State School of Decorative Arts in Poznań, painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and printmaking under Władysław Skoczylas at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1925, he left for Paris, where he lived, as well as in Belgium, Italy, and England, until 1939. During the occupation, he remained in Poland. After the war, he settled in California. He was a member of the “Ryt” group. Before the war, he worked primarily in woodcut; later, he also engaged in mural painting and ceramics.
