Leon Szatzsznajder (or Szacsznajder) - Polish portrait painter, sculptor and medalist. He studied at the Warsaw Drawing School under W. Gerson until 1903, and from 1909-1912 studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna. Evacuated to Russia in 1915 due to the outbreak of war, he came to Warsaw in 1918 and settled here permanently. Before World War II, he designed ornate art deco style utilitarian objects (dishes, platters, etc.) made of metal combined with glass, as well as medals and small sculptures. He is the author of the portrait medallion of W. Reymont in the Powązki cemetery. He also painted in watercolor. After the war, he continued to do medallions and small sculptural forms (including sports-themed and, in the 1950s, socialist realist) and watercolor painting on cardboard (he created, among other things, symbolic cubic compositions, but also realistic landscapes). Leon Szatzsznajder's works can be found, among others, in the Museum of Medallic Art in Wroclaw.
A Certificate of Authenticity will be included with the purchased object.
