Piotr BRYMAS (b. 1971), Spatial form "Jerusalem," 2021

Poet, author of texts and poems for children, sculptor, ceramist. From 2005 to 2007 he studied ceramics and other arts and crafts at Grennan Mill Craft School in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. He creates ceramic sculptures in which he combines the aspect of artistic abstraction with applied art, such as: vases, bowls, pots, plates, bowls, platters. He draws on motifs and elements of naive art, fauvism and surrealism, constructing surreal towers and pyramids, anthropomorphic torsos and spatial silhouettes with multidimensional meanings and references. He uses symbols and pictograms in his decorations, from primitive patterns to convoluted and exuberant visions of "dancing" and "levitating" cities. In creating his works, he uses mostly stoneware clay, less often terra cotta. He combines constructions and techniques of working on the wheel with traditional forms of sculpture. For decoration, he uses a limited range of glaze colors (transparent or faded), evoking the naturalness and fawniness of earth colors and distinctive ceramic crayon drawing techniques. He sometimes experiments with Raku techniques and combining materials and textures.
