Figure cast in bronze, simple classicist styling with a romantic touch. Allegorical male figure - most likely a symbol of commerce - depicted in a half-naked form, with attributes such as an anchor, lion skin, ruler or other symbols of commercial activity and progress. Ernest Justin Ferrand was a French artist active in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. He regularly participated in the Paris Salon from 1882. His works consist of mythological figures, allegories and a variety of scenes.
