Jan RASZKA (1871-1945)
Born in Ropica in Zaolzie, he studied painting and, above all, sculpture at the Vienna Academy from 1892 to 1899, as well as in Munich and Paris. From 1902 he taught at the State Industrial School in Cracow, and from 1916 served as "war sculptor" at the Legion Headquarters. He specialized in small forms - designs for medals, plaques. Among others, he was the author of the "Legion Four" (1917), the unpreserved: the monument to Silesian Insurgents and Legionaries in Dziedzice (1919) and the reliefs of the building of the Provincial Office and the Silesian Parliament in Katowice (1926-27).
