Biography
Wladyslawa Prucnal is a Polish folk artist specializing in ceramic sculpture. She comes from a family of potters, and has been creating clay figures since 1949. In the 1950s, she cooperated with the People's and Artistic Industry Cooperative in Lancut, initially taking inspiration from Emilia Chmiel's style, and later developing her own unique sculpture. Her works, depicting the life of villagers, were available in Cepelia stores, among others, and were made to order for collectors and competitions. Since the 1960s she has actively participated in art exhibitions and fairs, and since 1972 she has been a member of the Association of Folk Artists. For more than a dozen years she ran an Art Center for children, inspiring younger generations to artistic creativity. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Oskar Kolberg Award in 1990 and the Franciszek Kotula Award in 1993. In 2013, on the occasion of 65 years of creative work, she was honored with the badge "Meritorious for Polish Culture" and in 2022 with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland. Her works are in Polish and foreign museums and private collections, including in the USA, Australia, Japan and Israel.
