46,5 x 31cm
Terracotta
The sculpture replicates a famous model of Donatello, present in the lunette of the Miracle of the Mula of the Altar of the Saint in the Basilica of Sant'Antonio in Padua. It was copied by many artists, including Desiderio da Settignano and his most trusted pupil, Bartolomeo Bellano. This sculpture compares well with the style of the latter, although the modeling seems to be a bit more pronounced. The gold background is not relevant and is a modern addition, probably from the 19th century
