The presented signboard is an interesting example of applied art related, in this case, to the dynamically developing food sector in the Second Polish Republic. Sigmund Rucker's factory was one of Lviv's important enterprises, continuing the tradition of family production of canned goods and preserves, dating back to the 19th century. After Zygmunt Kazimierz Rucker took over as manager and the company was reorganized into a joint-stock company in 1935, it functioned as a modern production facility, responding to growing market demand.
The aesthetics of the signboard reflect the advertising trends of the 1930s - legibility of the message, attractive colors and a realistic representation of the product, designed to inspire consumer confidence. Such signs were commonly displayed in stores and points of sale, forming an important part of a brand's visual identity.
The pieces that have survived today are rare testimonies of the commercial and industrial culture of old Lviv, as well as valuable examples of graphic design of the interwar period.
