Biography
Michal Ostrowski was born in 1997 in Warsaw. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2021. He concentrates on painting and drawing, but currently mainly creates paintings in mixed techniques on large canvases. It was only at the beginning of the pandemic that he began to seriously direct his life to devote himself to painting. In his paintings, he combines the media of oil, spray and acrylic, and guides them with various actions like scratching and painting over previously created compositions on canvas. In his work, he does not direct himself to the search for beauty. He focuses on redirecting the subconscious into a visual language, boiling emotions into matter and bright colors. Life experiences, memories of years lived and situations observed on the streets of a big city are his key inspiration. People, animals and other creatures, whose silhouettes are always exaggerated or deformed, loom large in his works, trying to vie for their place in the world and survive in a reality that seems to be accelerating ever faster. Through his paintings, he tries to convey the anxieties and visions that connect with the perception of our society, but also to recreate his moods in them. The sheer surprise of the end result is most important to him.
