This painting is part of a series of Weissian nudes alluding in their compositional arrangement to the works of the Old Masters. The silvery gray background harmonizes with the nude body of the woman. The model, posing in a relaxed pose, is placed under a "canopy" of drapery surrounding the bed. The pinned up fabric and its soft folds are modeled by the artist with light. The intimate setting of the painter's atelier, suffused with silvery tones, makes the atmosphere of tranquility and relaxation emanate from the painting.
