Michal ICHNOWSKI

Painter and sculptor. In 1878-1882 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1881 he received a four-year scholarship from H. Siemiradzki, which allowed him to go to Vienna and Munich to study. After returning to Poland, he settled in Cracow. Beginning in 1883, he exhibited frequently at the local TPSP. He painted landscapes, portraits, religious paintings, allegorical and humorous genre scenes. He sculpted in terracotta and plaster, designed postcards, and was also an illustrator. He was eager to use the pastel technique, especially when he created images of women.
