Austrian painter and printmaker. Portraitist of royal courts, court painter to Britain's Queen Victoria. Daughter of portrait painter Eduard Swoboda, sister of Orientalist painter Rudolf Swoboda. She received her first painting lessons from her father. In 1878-86 she studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. She quickly gained recognition as a portraitist and prestigious commissions. She had exhibitions in London, Vienna, Hamburg and Berlin. Among others, Emperor Franz Joseph commissioned portraits from her.
