German School, around 1910, Horses in an Abstract Landscape

This small yet dynamic painting on cardboard is an example of the modernist style that emerged in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. The work, which can be categorized within the Expressionist movement, presents several stylized figures of horses, rendered with energetic lines and fragmented forms in a fluid composition. The color palette is dominated by tones of blue, green, and yellow-ochre, applied with visible brushstrokes that convey a sense of movement and spontaneity. In an era when artists were moving away from realistic representation, this painting explores emotion and dynamism through form and color, reflecting the influences of avant-garde movements like `Der Blaue Reiter`. The work is notable for its visual intensity and its innovative approach to form. Oil on cardboard, 24 x 19 cm
