Piotr Smogór - in painting combines figurative compositions with landscape. For the purpose of his painting, he created the term figurative landscape, which is an expression of man's inscription in the surrounding reality of the urban landscape and nature. The paintings show an intermingling of planes and layers of time, thus showing the stories of human corporeality along with the limitations of its nature and aberration as a transgression of the cultural pattern. He does not shy away from controversial topics. The body series, completed several years ago, is an expression of interest in the clash between corporeality and objectivity understood as a solid that is subject to the simple laws of nature. He is also interested in the relationship that occurs in the image between color and line resulting in expressive small sketch forms painted in acrylic or watercolor. He often travels, takes photos and sketches in the open air, from where he draws motifs for his works. A recent series of paintings under the working title simple_objects, shows more of nature, incorporates simplifications and masking of elements, so that often the subject of the work is a hidden place, as if negated or understated. A youthful fascination with astrology and light comes to the fore in a recent series of nightscapes from nearby neighborhoods, where we see arrangements of stars shown symbolically by masking the ground. He has recently been living near Wroclaw and is preparing for an exhibition.
He has participated in many group exhibitions including two editions of the WPA International Art Festival and the OSTEN Biennial of Drawing in Skopje.
