Obverse:
The king’s head facing right.
Inscription on the rim: STANISLAUS AUGUSTUS D G REX POLON M D LITUAN
Reverse:
Beneath the crown, a five-field coat-of-arms shield featuring the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, and the Ciołek coat of arms (the Poniatowski family coat of arms) in the center. The whole is set within a wreath of palm and oak leaves, encircled by a ribbon bearing the Order of the White Eagle. On the sides are the initials E – B (Efraim Brenn—Master of the Warsaw Mint).
The rim bears the inscription: 10 7/16 EX MARCA PURA – COLONIENS 1788
A variant of the wreath featuring shorter palm leaves and an acorn on a short stalk—a rarer example.
Condition:
Slight misalignment, but a beautifully struck and well-preserved piece. Three-dimensional relief. Beautiful detail. Charming patina. A rarer variant. A beautiful coin.
