Russia Sevsky Czech 1686

Russia. Ivan V and Peter II Alekseevich (1682–1689). Sevsky Czech 1686, Sevsk Mint. Sevsk Czech coins were issued in 1687 (with the date '1686') in the city of Sevsk (now in the Bryansk region). They were intended for circulation in Ukraine, specifically to pay salaries to participants in Prince V.V. Golitsyn's First Crimean Campaign. They were subsequently withdrawn from circulation in 1689 and, until recently, were considered extremely rare numismatic relics. The Sevsk Czech is the only Russian coin minted using the roll-work method (a coin strip was passed between two rollers bearing images of the obverse and reverse sides of the coin). Silver 0.82 g. Diakov 20-27 (ER), Severin 8. Slight surface damaged edge.
