2 zlote 1978 without a mint mark, a circulating coin of the People’s Republic of Poland struck in brass at the Leningrad Mint in the USSR, with a mintage of 2,600,000 pieces.
A distinctive variant from the 1978 issue lacking the mint mark beneath the eagle’s talon, differing from the concurrently issued variant bearing the mark of the State Mint in Warsaw.
The presented piece is further distinguished by a subtle reverse image visible in the lower part of the obverse, which is a reflection of the relief elements on the opposite side of the coin.
The piece is preserved in high mint condition, graded MS 65 by NGC.
The combination of the low mintage of the variant without a mint mark, its high condition, and the visible reverse image makes this coin a particularly interesting item for collectors of variants and circulation coins from the People’s Republic of Poland.
