John II Casimir, 1662 GBA six-real coin, Lviv – variant – very nice
Type VII (Ciura) bust.
The Ślepowron coat of arms (of Jan Kazimierz Krasiński—Grand Treasurer of the Crown) is divided by a circumferential inscription on the obverse.
On the reverse, flanking the shield bearing the Snopek coat of arms (the coat of arms of the Vasa family), are the letters G B – A (the initials of Giovanni Battista Ammureti—the leaseholder of the Lviv mint).
A variant with plain coats-of-arms.
An oval-shaped cartouche bearing the Vasa coat of arms. The cartouche is decorated with bows. Above the cartouche is a trefoil.
A variant with inscriptions bearing the king’s title IO CASIM … PO ET SVE in the rim on the obverse and … ARGEN SEX REG POL … in the rim on the reverse.
Condition: 2+/1-
Minor wear on the edge and slight flaws in the metal, but a beautifully struck and well-preserved piece. Brilliant luster and a mirror finish. A beautiful coin.
