John II Casimir, Ort 1653, Wschowa
On the obverse, a bust of the king in right-facing profile. An inscription in the rim: “
” On the reverse, a crowned coat-of-arms shield. On the sides, the denomination I – 8. The rim bears an inscription divided at the top by a crown and at the bottom by the Wieniawa coat of arms (of Bogusław Leszczyński—Grand Treasurer of the Crown).
A variant with the inscription featuring the king’s title “IOAN CASIMIR …” in the rim on the obverse and “… ARGEN … PO …” in the rim on the reverse.
Condition:
A well-struck and beautifully preserved coin for this type. Good detail. Luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. A beautiful piece.
