The juxtaposition of black and white is one of the hallmarks of Ryszard Winiarski's works. The characteristic arrangements of squares, the order of which was determined by the throw of a dice and the extremely inspiring combination of logic and chance with art, still stand out in the canon of contemporary art. The offered, magnificent canvas is the quintessence of the artist's style. At the same time, it was created during a significant period of the painter's artistic biography.
The influence of painting of the so-called New Expressionism and other trends in art, contributed to changes in the artistic concept of Ryszard Winiarski. Intuition began to play an important role in the creation of objects. Adding an emotional charge to the strictly pragmatic, mathematical process of action, gave a new quality to the artist's works.
In the catalog of his works, in addition to squares, other structures began to appear, referring, for example, to the rule of the iceberg (a project in the city of Groningen or in Chelm). In the 1980s, he created, among other things, "Black Square, or Flying Geometry," an installation that consisted of cut squares combined into a new structure. In 1984 there was a solo exhibition "Geometry in a state of tension" at the "RR" Gallery in Warsaw. Ryszard Winiarski also participated in group exhibitions at the "Zapiecek" Gallery and the National Museum in Warsaw.
