Sara ILIA (b. 1995), Absence of presence, 2023

In 2019, she defended her diploma at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Focusing on human physicality, the artist sees the body as a metaphorical landscape - a space where emotions, symbolism and spiritual reflections are intertwined. The duplicated silhouettes balance between figurativeness and abstraction, and the newly created form becomes a carrier of meaning. Through gestures, body arrangements and color contrasts, Sara seeks to show the elusive mental states affecting each of us. The dialogue between corporeality and inner experiences leads to the construction of narratives full of intimacy, nostalgia and sometimes anxiety. Her works have been shown in exhibitions of national stature such as the 2nd Tarnow Art Biennale 2024 and internationally, including Body Ideals at Museum Ovartaci in Denmark. Her work has been written about in the pages of K-Mag magazine.
