Radek Szlaga (Gliwice 1979, lives and works in Detroit and Brussels) - painter, author of installations and spatial objects. From 2000 to 2005 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. He received his diploma with honors in the painting studio of Prof. Jerzy Kalucki. Winner of the Artistic Award of the City of Poznan (2007). Since May 2007. with Wojciech Bąkowski, Tomasz Mroz, Konrad Smoleński, Piotr Bosacki, Magdalena Starska and Iza Tarasewicz co-founded the artistic group Penerstwo. His artistic interests oscillate around issues of belonging and identity, history, race, religion, tensions between the center and periphery and the social margin. His early paintings are clearly filled with irony and an attempt to recognize concepts such as morality, good, evil, sacred and profane. In 2012, the artist was nominated for the "Polityka" Passport.
