Monika Skowronek,
born February 4, 1984 in Hrubieszow. Computer graphic designer, photographer, painter and sculptor. In 2004 she graduated from the State High School of Fine Arts in Zamosc with a profile in woodcarving. Then, in 2009, she received a Master of Arts degree from the Faculty of Art Education at the Radom University of Technology in the field of fine arts with a specialization in multimedia. In works strongly related to her imagination (mainly painting and drawing), she oscillates between real and magical elements from the astral or 'fantasy' world. She wishes to show something more than just the physicality of the world. The creatures in the author's paintings are transcendent and only the viewer can guess what this being in the painting is. She currently lives and works in the Warsaw area.
"Why deny something we received with our birth and why consider it wrong, when discovering is our destiny? Only through our own authenticity will we feel free. The driving force behind my works is mainly my imagination, dreams and waking visions. The works titled. "Naocznik" and "Astral" were created in 2015. "Naocznik" was originally created as a computer graphic from where I transferred it secondarily to canvas with modifications and re-interpretation of my own. These are works in which I gave vent to my ideas about parallel worlds perhaps existing next to us, or at least I want to believe that this is the case. In my works I have given up the academic style of interpreting reality and have given vent to my imagination in favor of interpreting something unreal and yet cosmic - not from this planet. I want my paintings to affect and stimulate the imagination of the viewer, without imposing anything." - Monika Skowronek
