Biography
Portraiture occupies a central place in the artist’s work. Łukasiewicz employs light with exceptional sensitivity; it becomes not only a tool for creating atmosphere but also a full-fledged protagonist of the painting. The technique of repeatedly applying and removing layers of paint, characteristic of his work, lends his compositions subtlety, softness, and a distinct sense of depth. Although some of the works may bring to mind printmaking, the artist consistently remains faithful to the medium of painting—he does not use printing techniques, relying solely on paint, intuition, and many years of experience.
