Marian Wódkiewicz in his youth as a guitarist played in various musical formations: Free, Jazz, Bigbeat, Quo Vadis. Eventually he turned his artistic talents towards painting. Since 1963 he begins his adventure with painting, which continues to this day. His angels, Madonnas of Lower Silesia are known to almost all residents of the Dzierżoniów area.
Marian Wódkiewicz created his first works under the guidance of Jerzy Rosolowicz, one of the most important authorities in the artistic environment of post-war Wroclaw, who at the same time took up a job as an instructor of painting at the House of Culture in Dzierżoniów in 1962.
He is a member of the Lower Silesian Association of Visual Artists in Wroclaw and a group of Dzierżoniów painters. He runs his own painting studio made available to the local community.
Marian Wódkiewicz paints portraits, landscapes, still life paintings of sacred subjects. His works are characterized by realism, attention to precise definition of shape and all details of an object or person. He combines elements taken from nature with creations of the imagination. He has his own unique style, and the whole composition is impressive and evokes the intended mood.
His paintings can be found in the Museum of Art in Wroclaw, Lodz, the National Museum in Wroclaw, the Ethnographic Museum in Wroclaw and in private collections in Poland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA. In 2008 he was awarded the medal of Merit for Polish Culture by the Minister of Culture.
Marian Wódkiewicz is also a well-known animator of cultural life in Dzierżoniów County. As early as 1967 he co-founded the Circle of Amateur Artists in Dzierżoniów. He is a member of the Association of Polish Artists. He received many thanks and congratulatory letters from local and district authorities. Honored with the badge "Meritorious for Polish Culture" in 2008, while in 2012 he received the Honorary Badge of Merit for the Lower Silesian Voivodship.
