“I discovered abstraction through my connection with the sea—an ‘unlimited’ element. Everyone says, ‘Mokwa likes the sea.’ (He smiles.) No one knows that I’m afraid of the sea. Its majesty takes on a grandeur that is almost abstract. I cannot fathom its mystery.”
(Krzysztof Wójcicki, “Conversations with Mokwa,” Gdynia 1997, p. 108)
