Biography
Visual artist. Studied ethnology and cultural anthropology at the University of Warsaw. He received his diploma in 2006 from the Department of Central and Eastern European Cultural Studies at UW. Since 2007, he has worked closely with his father, Andrzej Dłużniewski - a prominent conceptual artist - first as an assistant and, over time, as a co-author.
Their relationship - personal and creative - took the form of a master-student. After a car accident in 1997, as a result of which Andrzej Dłużniewski lost his eyesight, Kajetan became his indispensable partner in creative work. Many of his father's later works would not have been created without his help. At the same time, Kajetan developed his own artistic practice, benefiting from intellectual proximity and dialogue with his father.
Their joint activities, conversations about art, walks, and participation in an artist residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude near Stuttgart (2007) were his breakthrough moments. His work is characterized by reflections on memory, presence and intergenerational relations. Dłużniewski operates with conceptual forms, close to the art of text, object and installation.
