Jozef SZCZĘSNY (1885-1968)
Painter. Studied art at the Warsaw Drawing School under Ksawery Dunikowski and Eligiusz Niewiadomski. In 1908-13 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in the painting classes of professors Jozef Mehoffer, Pankiewicz and Axentowicz, who had a great influence on Szczęsny. He had a painting studio, where he lived with his wife Michalina, at 19 Floriańska St. He took part in Polish and international painting exhibitions and won prizes and awards. The year 1939 interrupted Szczęsny's work. He and his wife were evicted from Cracow. He is buried in the Rakowicki cemetery.
