Exploration of the issues of matter painting and geometric abstraction, characterizes the painting of Jerzy Baranowski. The artist, deliberately limiting the means of painting, experiments with the physical properties of paints and the tools used, creating canvases with a textural structure so constructed as to build space in the painting. Light falling on the dark surface of the work is also an important factor in the artist's creations. It brings out a range of tones from gray to deep reality-absorbing black. The artist graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Wojciech Zubala in 2018. At that time, he was the winner of the Siemens Art Prize competition. The painter was also a finalist in the 2nd edition of the Wojciech Fangor competition (2018), and the 16th edition of the Hestia Artistic Journey competition (2017).
