"I'm interested in dilapidated places, cracked plaster, faded inscriptions, advertisements, crooked gutters with streaks, because I think it's simply more interesting for a painter. After all, the fragments form a whole, while living their own lives. There's a lot of the romantic in me, and that's probably where the fondness for such places comes from."
