Biography
Painter associated with Krakow, one of the forerunners of realism in landscape and landscape painting in the Malopolska artistic community. In 1850 he began studying painting at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1860 he received a government scholarship for further studies in Vienna; he returned to Krakow in 1862. He painted mainly genre scenes, depicting the everyday life of peasants and highlanders, village children and studies of the heads of villagers and highlanders. He also painted landscapes of the Krakow suburbs and mountain-themed views.
