The third volume of a guide to Kraków and its surroundings compiled byJózef Mączyński (1807–1862). It includes, among other things: the history of Kraków, descriptionsof churches,themost importantmonuments (theRoyalCastle, the Cloth Hall, the Armory, the Kraków Academy,charitable institutions), as well as the city’s surroundings and their attractions (Łobzów, Wola Justowska, Bielany, Balice, Alwernia, Lipowiec Castle, Tęczyński Castle, Krzeszowice, and the salt mines in Wieliczka). The volume is illustrated with three lithographs based ondrawings by J. N. Głowacki, A. Płonczyński, and H. Walter at the Lemercier workshop in Paris (the Cloth Hall and the Church of the Virgin Mary, the Jagiellonian College, and the Theater in Kraków). Three engravings are missing. Wear on the binding, outdated ownership stamps, characteristic yellowing in the text; otherwise in good condition.
