Fr. M. Bräuning started his business around 1900 in Velten and Borgsdorf, later moving to Hermsdorf, his company was known for its ceramic products modeled on ancient models and inspired by prehistoric Brandenburg ceramics. The workshop was also famous for its paintings on ceramics and plant motifs, which were an important part of its style. It is believed that Max Laeuger inspired Fr. M. Bräuning to work with angobe painting, which he then practiced at the Brandenburg Artistic and Agricultural Ceramics Workshop, thus refining his ceramic work.
