Glazed ceramics, 27/15/12 cm
Iwo Rynkiewicz - co-founder of the creative group "Kobron", born in 1970 in Warsaw. In 1994 he definitively abandons painting in favor of the search for pure form in ceramic sculpture. An admirer of Nick Cave's work. Like Cave, he is fascinated by biblical motifs as well as stories and characters reminiscent of the interwar years of the last century. His intimate ceramic forms, are mostly mysterious, sometimes vulgar, crotchets, as if from Otto Dix's paintings, distorted, with the stigma of pain and madness, characters lifted vividly from the Barnum & Bailey Circus theater of the peculiar. Here is a blond beauty and a trapeze star, here is a dwarf, an acrobat and a "strongman," a little girl with the mind of an old woman. People of unusual appearance - born with physical handicaps or altered by rare diseases - have aroused a kind of interest since the earliest times. Cave, Barnum and Rynkiewicz were united by the man and his story. Ecce homo - this is the man.
