Cup from the service of President Ignacy Moscicki (?), Ćmielów, II RP
Porcelain, gilded: 5 x 7 cm
The cup probably comes from the second service ordered for President Ignacy Moscicki, created at the Porcelain Factory in Ćmielów. Sets I and II consisted of about several hundred pieces of porcelain, which have survived to our times in a small percentage (of the first service only 200 objects). The firstservice was made in 1930 at the Porcelain Factory in Ćmielów, in the modeling workshop headed by Bronisław Wysocki. He created dishes in the "Empire" cut (on a leg), "Spała" with characteristic planes and a modified "Lviv" cut with a different shape of handles.
The decoration was designed and made by Jozef Wysocki, using the technique of applied relief gold. Its main motif is the national emblem - a crowned eagle.
The second service was almost identical with a band of convex rhombuses, forming an elegant, representative ornament. Parts in France at the Charles Ahrenfeldt factory in Limoges.
The presented teacup comes from a probably supplementary batch, ordered after the completion of the basic service. Elements of this service are exhibited at the National Museum in Cracow.
The cup is signed with a unique, elaborate signature and an under-glaze imprint.
Condition: good (loss in the geometric band at the top, painted over with gold paint).
