Biography
In 1997, she graduated with a degree in Art Promotion and Art Education from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. Since 2014, she has been a co-founder and co-organizer of the “Staro Zhelezare Street Art Festival” in Bulgaria, as well as the founder of the Staro Zhelezare Street Art Museum and Center for Contemporary Art. She is a co-owner of the Ventzi Drawing School in
Poznań, which has been operating since 1991. Together with her husband, Ventzislav Piriankov, she owns the Ventzi Studio and Gallery as well as the Piec Student Gallery in Poznań. Painting is the medium through which she explores her interests in inner development and universal truths.
In her paintings, Katarzyna Piriankov focuses on the motifs of flowers, symbols, and archetypes. The flowers are not realistic depictions but rather a pretext for transcending realistic reality. Rather, flowers serve as a pretext, a code that leads into the depths of the painting. At times, they are a stream of concentrated, positive energy, intense hues, and luminous colors. At other times, they serve as a reflection on transience; in such cases, they are ephemeral images radiating a nostalgic beauty to which we cling, fully aware of its illusory nature. It is a constant longing and search for happiness, moments of encountering it, and the feeling that we have found the answer—what it is. It is not necessarily flowers, not just flowers—there is much more hidden beneath this beauty. They can be viewed as signs and symbols, signposts to remind us of who we are. Piriankov’s paintings also feature abstract signs, enigmatic symbols, and mysterious script, which she uses to convey philosophical themes.
