Jean-Michel Basquiat painted one of his most famous paintings, "Untitled (fishing)," in 1981, in which the crest of the graffiti-painting street artist is considered a recognized creation of the New York art scene. She worked in the basement of Annina Nosei's gallery in SoHo. The work depicts a fisherman wearing a crown of thorns and a halo of the same nature. Standing in the middle of the canvas, the fisherman proudly displays his catch, a large fish suspended from the end of his fishing rod. Its black body exposed by a white skeleton.
The painting was sold for $26.4 million in 2012. The current auction record to $110 million at Sotheby's in 2017.
