DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
One of the subjects taken up in art by Feliks Michał Wygrzywalski was the female nude. The artist also often placed the scenes he depicted in seaside scenery. Both of these elements were merged in the painting "Nymph on a Rock" depicting the title goddess, visible from behind, in a sensual pose, resting on a rock near the sea coast. The painting is in keeping with the realist-symbolist tendencies of the era at the turn of the 20th century and is an example of the use of a mythological motif to depict an eroticizing, imagination-affecting representation.
