The work on display is a graphic interpretation by Salvador Dali to Andre Breton's poem of the same title. The relationship between Salvador Dalí and André Breton remains a cornerstone of Surrealism, in which the boundaries of art, psychology and reality merge, revealing a new and profound understanding of the human mind.
Andre Beton (1896 - 1966) - theoretician and founder of Surrealism, author of three Surrealist manifestos, wrote of Dalí as follows:
"Dalí equipped Surrealism with a tool of paramount importance - the paranoid-critical method, which, as was immediately apparent, he was able to apply both to painting, poetry, films, the construction of typical Surrealist objects, fashion, sculpture, art history, and, if necessary, to commentary of all kinds."
According to Breton, Dalí was more than just an artist, he was an intellectual, a thinker who used art as a means to explore and liberate the human psyche.
