Ink, pen, cardboard, 30 x 22 cm, signed "A. Fiedler" and " A.F. 45". Flooding in three places.
The author studied at the Academy in Hamburg and Munich. He was a painter and printmaker. He painted in the style of expressive realism and surrealism. In 1937 his works were classified as "degenerate art" and he left for Paris in 1938. In 1945 he was taken into American captivity. This drawing is probably made at the site of internment e.g. an old monastery as indicated by the year consistent with the date of captivity. Due to the landscape, vegetation and architecture, southern France may be indicated.
