-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Zygmunt Gizella (1875-1959) - was born in Dzhurin near Chortkov (Ternopil region). From an early age he had to earn his keep (his parents, Lvivians, died early), and thanks to his good knowledge of German (he was self-taught, having not completed gymnasium) he got a job as a court clerk in Kolomyia. After World War I, he lived in Zloczow and Warsaw, where he worked with the Ministry of Justice. After the evacuation of the government to Poznan during the Polish-Bolshevik war, he remained there permanently. In retirement, he was a court superintendent and receiver and, on behalf of the Poznań governor, superintendent of suspended German organizations before the outbreak of war. During and just after the occupation, he was a sworn translator from the German language in Tomaszow Mazowiecki and Warsaw, and after the war - in Poznan. Throughout his adult life he occasionally wrote journalistic articles and reports in the local and national press.

Zdzislaw Henryk Grot (1903-1984) - Polish historian, specialist in the history of Greater Poland (especially the Greater Poland Uprising), Prussia and Germany, and the history of the development of physical culture in Poland.
