Śpiewniczek Sokoli, containing all songs forbidden in the Prussian partition.
Kraków, 1910.
Publisher's cloth binding, pp.[2], 176, format 11.7 x 8 cm.
Condition: pages 23-26 missing, supplemented by photocopy, cover rubbed (back cover also with scratches), inside back cover and title page with pencil notations (ownership entries?), cracks along spine, but except for loose title page the whole is held together by staples, paper heavily yellowed, some pages with cracks in margins and minimal paper loss, occasional pencil marking of contents.
The songbook is encountered in several publishing versions. The basic version (offered by the Bartoszko antique store in 2023) had 160 pages (ending with a table of contents). In addition to the basic version with 160 pages, there are also editions enriched with 16 additional pages, with more songs not listed in the table of contents. In the version digitized on Polona.pl, from the collection of the National Library, the additional pages are sewn in at the beginning (making pagination 1-16 duplicate), while in our piece the supplement is at the end with pagination 161-176.
The piece offered with us differs from the BN piece, in content and layout.
Juxtaposition of both pieces, order of songs according to our piece :
- "Boże coś Polskę." - with 5 stanzas, while in BN there are 10 stanzas;
- "With the smoke of fires" - with 3 stanzas, while in BN there are 6 stanzas;
- "Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła" - with 9 stanzas, while in BN it is the same;
- "Practice March" - with 3 stanzas, in BN the same;
