Friedrich Perzynski (1877-1965) - was a German writer, journalist, translator and art historian, particularly known for his studies of Eastern art, including Japanese woodcuts. He was one of the pioneers in Europe in popularizing Japanese art, and his works contributed to a better understanding of Japanese culture in the West, especially in the context of the fascination with Eastern art and aesthetics in the early 20th century.
Perzynski was the author of numerous publications on Japanese art, including one on Katsushika Hokusai, one of the most important ukiyo-e artists. In his book entitled "Hokusai," he presented the life and work of this Japanese woodcut master, analyzing his influence on European art and his significance for Japanese culture.
