A novel by Ignacy Chodźko (1794–1861), a writer and storyteller who set his works primarily in Lithuanian settings. As the author notes in a footnote, the idea and plot of the work were based on a family story told to the Chodźka family by “Mr. Milanowski of Linkowo, a former Deputy of the Nobility of the Vilnius Governorate.” Outdated, 19th-century ownership notations. Scuffs and damage to the binding; discoloration and soiling on the pages; signs of water damage; otherwise in good condition.
