A one-sided trial print of a 20 zlotych banknote from 1939, part of the so-called “emigration issue,” printed by ABNCo in New York.
A rare proof of the reverse side; the obverse is unprinted—produced on paper other than the standard type used for banknotes intended for circulation. Printed at a 1:1 scale based on the main design of the reverse side, but on a larger-format sheet of paper. Printing method: intaglio (steel engraving), in gray. The inscription “BANK POLSKI 20 BACK 83656” is printed in the upper part; the entire piece is mounted on a display card measuring approximately 230 x 152 mm.
A rare and attractive item; on the backing cardstock, within the margins, there are foxing spots; the paper on which the test print was made also shows minor foxing spots of this type.
