This work by Edward Kaim depicts a landscape, one of the artist’s most important themes. The composition was created in 1981 using oil on canvas and is an example of work inspired by the landscapes of Cieszyn Silesia and the borderlands.
Edward Kaim (1925–2016) was born in Żuków Dolny. After completing his education in Český Těšín, he studied at Palacký University in Olomouc, where he received training in both education and the arts. In 1978, he continued his studies in fine arts at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn. Throughout his life, he was involved in teaching while simultaneously developing his own artistic practice.
His work focused primarily on landscapes, printmaking, and still lifes. He exhibited his works in Český Těšín, Cieszyn, Racibórz, Kraków, Opole, and Jabłonków. His work is particularly highly regarded within the artistic community of Cieszyn Silesia.
