Haro, Rioja

Lopez de Heredia has a secure place among the best wine producers around the world. The wines from here have acquired cult status because of how they remain traditional and true to their origins despite ever-changing trends and styles. Maria Lopez de Heredia, now at the helm of the family estate, makes wine exactly as her great grandfather made it more than 100 years ago. Tondonia, the estate's main label, is a distinct class of wine, a Rioja of the past that, while never trying to be fashionable, has never gone out of style.
Gran Reserva is the top label of Tondonia wines. Produced only in exceptional vintages, matured in the cellar for a suitably long time and released years later only when it is ready for it. No rush. Minimal quantities, cult status and an exceptional profile make haste advisable for anyone who wants to acquire a bottle for themselves. There are far fewer of them than there are takers.
