Peregrinacya Or Pilgrimage to Jerusalem of the Holy Land.
By His Excellency ... Marshal of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, with the addition of various pious and interesting things worth knowing described. B.m. 1745. b.w. (20.5 x 17 cm), f. [2], p. 354, portrait of the Author in woodcut, binding , period leather.
(Estr. T. 26). One of two editions announced in print in the same year. The publication contains a description of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, made in 1582 by Mikolaj Krzysztof Radziwill "Orphan" (1549-1616) - Grand Marshal of Lithuania, etc. The itinerary of his travels included Italy, Crete, Cyprus, Syria, Palestine and Egypt. The original account was compiled by Radziwill himself in Polish around 1590.Then the Warmia custodian Tomasz Treter translated it into Latin and published it in print in 1601.A later Polish translation by Father Andrzej Wargocki was created from this version. The work brings an evocative, detailed picture of Oriental countries and customs there. Its great success in the 17th and 18th centuries is confirmed by numerous editions and translations. Traces of non-moisture, first two pages loose and slightly wrinkled, non. loss of the bottom corner of the first three pages, traces of woodworm, page edges stained; binding: brown leather with blind stamping on the face and red signboard on the spine, binding abrasions and traces of woodworm. Overall good condition. Very scarce.
