The work of a Russian historian based, among others, on Russian diplomatic archives and Polish sources of the period. The author shows the influence of the Jews living in the Polish lands on the fall of Poland. He also raises the actions of the king and dignitaries who "abandoned their own honor, dignity, conscience and the sacred duties of a citizen."
